Exhibit Opening

On Thursday September 8, 2016, 5:30pm to 7:30 pm the Old Log Church Museum hosted the opening reception of a new exhibit, ‘The Exham Years: The Church, Art and Life in Old Crow, 1965-1969.

Working on behalf of the Diocese of Yukon, Anglican minister, Reverend Kenah Exham and his wife Beth-Anne Exham lived and worked in Old Crow from 1965 to 1969. During this time they acquired many fine examples of Gwich’in artwork. This is the story of daily life in Old Crow during that time as seen by Mrs. Exham. In particular, the art and the people who made it.

 The exhibit was made possible with funding from Government of Yukon, Tourism & Culture, Museum’s Unit, Special Projects and Economic Development, Community Development Fund.

Midnight Arts developed the exhibit for the Old Log Church Museum in partnership with the Vuntut Gwitchin. The website will also be on display at the John Tizya Centre in Old Crow.

Elaine Taylor, Minister of Tourism & Culture YG, Dorothy Frost, Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation, Samantha Shannon, Executive Director, and Beth-Anne Exham officially opened the exhibit.
